Agent-based Computational Economics: a Methodological Appraisal
This paper is an overview of " Agent-based Computational Economics " (ACE), an emerging approach to the study of decentralized market economies, in methodological perspective. It summarizes similarities and differences with respect to conventional economic models, outlines the unique methodological characteristics of this approach, and discusses its implications for economic methodology as a wh...
متن کاملAgent-based Models and Causality : A Methodological Appraisal
Computational agent-based models are entering the toolbox of quantitative sociologists. However, markedly contrasting views still exist as to its capacity to contribute to causally-oriented empirical research. Building on selected works across disciplines ranging from computer science to philosophy, we connect scholarship on causality, mechanisms, and simulation methods, and provide the first s...
متن کاملA 360 Degree Performance Appraisal Model for Documents Digitizing Firms
Performance appraisal is a process that people can comparetheir perceptions of working with major manufacturers’ perceptions. However, when assessment is done from different sources thatare related with self-assessment, called performance appraisal 360 degree.Given the importance of Performance appraisal by 360 degreefeedback in organizations, a model has been provided for 360 degreeperformance ...
متن کاملAn entropic model of Gaia.
We modify the Tangled Nature Model of Christensen et. al. (2002) so that the agents affect the carrying capacity. This leads to a model of species-environment co-evolution where the system tends to have a larger carrying capacity with life than without. We discuss the model as an example of an entropic hierarchy and some implications for Gaia theory.
متن کاملFractal, entropic and chaotic approaches to complex physiological time series analysis: a critical appraisal Citation
A wide variety of methods based on fractal, entropic or chaotic approaches have been applied to the analysis of complex physiological time series. In this paper, we show that fractal and entropy measures are poor indicators of nonlinearity for gait data and heart rate variability data. In contrast, the noise titration method based on Volterra autoregressive modeling represents the most reliable...
